The Client

The London-based management team of an international agency network.

The Scenario

After delivering a successful pressure management programme for one of the agencies in the group, pressurepoint met with the group HR team to discuss cross- agency issues with management level performance and competencies.

Four initial mentoring sessions (training for mentors) were set up and after very positive feedback a full proposal for a management training programme was put in place.

A number of management level staff were new in post and inexperienced. The programme was designed to develop self-awareness and self- management as well as a full set of skills to manage their teams and client relationships better.

The Brief

To put together a flexible, bespoke management training programme for 60 Manager level staff.

The Intervention

A modular programme consisting of three, one-day workshops, delivered in half-day sessions for ease of scheduling.

1. Management Essentials.

To provide delegates with the essential tools to support their management skills competencies.

2. Manager As Coach.

To introduce delegates to the skills of coaching to enable them to be more aware of how to motivate and develop their teams.

3. Challenging Conversations.

To provide individuals with the knowledge, skills and tools to enable them to confidently deal with difficult and challenging conversations.

Each session consisted of a presentation, followed by active learning and discussion to reinforce the key messages of the workshop. Fully detailed workbooks were also supplied for each delegate.

The Outcome

The client has reported greatly improved levels of motivation, with managers performing better with both teams and clients. Currently considering further roll out of the programme.
